About Compilation64...

Compilation64 is an attempt to archive the game compilations that were released for the Commodore 64 during its heyday.

The idea for such an archive came from a discussion about favourite compilations on the forum of popular Commodore 64 website Lemon64.

After individual member posts detailing favourite compilations, Lemon64 member “Gorkur” asked whether there was a site dedicated purely to compilations.  Thus Compilation64 was born.  The original discussion can be viewed in its entirety here...

Using downloads from Compilation64 and other sites...

Many games available for download on Compilation64 and other sites, are in a format that can be used with a C64 emulator.  A C64 emulator is a program that temporarily turns your modern computer into a Commodore 64.  Two of the best emulators are VICE and CCS64.  VICE is available here and CCS64 here.

If you still have an original C64, you may wish to transfer downloaded files to original 5 1/4” disks to use with your real hardware.  To do this, you can use Star Commander, available here.

Downloaded SID files (C64 music files) can be played via your PC using a program called SIDPlay, available here.

Please note that Compilation64 does not provide technical support for the programs listed above.  You should refer to any documentation supplied with the program.  You may, however, find some support on the Compilation64 Forum.

Compilation64 Staff!

Lee Theasby:
Born in 1971, Lee Theasby has always lived in Hartlepool, on the North-east coast. His first computer was a ZX81 though he got bored of that fairly quickly!

A couple of years later a C64 appeared, which changed his life. Twenty years on, Lee talks about retrogaming in a number of on-line forums and now in printed magazines ('Def Tribute To ZZAP!'). He owns an extensive range of old computers and consoles, as well as emulating on his XBox.

Lee works a a part-time club DJ and also enjoys reading, TV, films and sleeping. Dislikes include DIY, children, sport and supermarkets.

Andy Vaisey:
Born in South Wales on Xmas day 1974, Andy’s first encounter with a C64 was Xmas `84, when his parents bought him a C64 and C2N, along with a Boss joystick and some games.

Andy is a member of C64 group Funkscientist Productions, occasionally producing some graphics :D  He also writes game reviews for the Oldschool Gaming website.

Andy plays the drums in a band as infrequently as he produces graphics for FSP. He enjoys freaking out his wife by constantly taking apart the office PC.

Andy thinks Lee would not enjoy his job because it involves working with children.
